Call this weird or not, but a few friends have contacted me saying that they turned on their Playstation 3 to download the latest PS3 2.40 Firmware update which they say is not there at all. It seems Sony has pulled 2.40 due to many problems; the new release of the new firmware update has indeed caused some troubles with gamers once they downloaded the update.
It seems that 2.40 has gone and they have reverted back to firmware 2.36 as the most recent available version, my friends were disappointed as they wanted this new update, but I eased their minds. I said to them that this is just temporary and we will see a much better and hopefully better working update. We here at PS3 Daily will keep you updated on this matter. We have heard through the grapevine that SCEA are looking into the matter.Eidos on Friday the 20th confirmed a November release for Tomb Raider: Underworld, with pair of new screens and a glimpse at the story.
In addition to a more specific release month, Eidos detailed a slightly familiar story; one where unleashed evil could doom society.
"Tomb Raider: Underworld represents an advancement in exploration-based gameplay," the company said in statement. "Using every weapon in her arsenal -- from her signature dual guns and expanded kit of archaeological tools to her own physical prowess and the environment itself -- Lara Croft leads a quest that circles the world to uncover the secrets of the Norse underworld and a forgotten power, that if, unleashed could lay waste to all civilization."
Tomb Raider: Underworld launches November 2008 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PS2 and PC. We'll have a preview in the not to distant future.
Remember the rumor party we all had last weekend? Capcom has taken a much different tactic to rumors that Resident Evil 5 would be a 360 timed exclusive. Various outlets began reporting that Microsoft was looking to offer some very valuable rubles to get the game a month ahead of Sony. While Capcom made no mention of whether the cash money offer had been made, they did clear up the exclusivity deal.
RE5 is a multiplatform release that fits with our oft-state crossplatform strategy,” stated Christian Svensson over at Capcom Unity. So there you have it. And doesn’t this make perfect sense? Last year Capcom announced that Devil May Cry would be making its first multiplatform release as part of this initiative. It makes sense that Capcom would continue the trend they started. It sounds more like fanboy bickering to take further steps in what some perceive as a war.
By golly, if Capcom moved a time honored Playstation game to the 360 then obviously the next step is to go 360 exclusive. And dirty Microsoft with all of their money is trying to buy up the best titles. No, the name of the game for a publisher is making money. Plus, the last time I checked Sony had plenty of money to do the same thing. Here's what you'll be able to do from the in-game XMB:

Either way, it'll be nice to finally have some basic functions that sorta should've been there in the first place.
